Lando Norris (No. 1 McLaren Mastercard F1 Team) took his second consecutive victory of the season during an eventful Dutch Grand Prix, the Briton beating Kimi Antonelli (No. 12 Mercedes-AMG PATRONAS Formula One Team) to the win while home favorite Max Verstappen (No. 3 Oracle Red Bull Racing) suffered a dramatic crash that resulted in the race being red-flagged. Kyle Kirkwood (No. 27 Andretti Global Sam’s Club Honda) won the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C., the first-ever motor race around the National Mall and the iconic monuments and buildings of the nation’s capital city. Florida native Kirkwood finished 3.0906-second victory ahead of the No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet of Christian Lundgaard, leading three Andretti Global drivers in the top four. That margin of victory was deceptive due to a late caution that bunched the field for a restart on the seven-turn, 1.7-mile temporary street circuit, as Kirkwood led by upward of 16 seconds at some points during the 250-mile race. “You can’t even put it into words – this is incredible,” Kirkwood said. “I’m almost in tears here. This is a big moment for us, a big moment for America here with the 250.” Said Lundgaard: “I feel that it’s fitting that an American won, right? We gave it our best shot.” Kirkwood earned his second victory of the season in crushing fashion, leading 128 of 147 laps after starting second. He also won the inaugural street race in March at Arlington, Texas, as six of his seven career victories have come on temporary circuits. “It felt good to dominate out there; I’m not going to lie,” Kirkwood said. “That was a really good moment. What an incredible place to do it. If you can’t win the (Indianapolis) 500, this is definitely the place to win. I don’t know if we’re ever going to get a chance to do it again – I hope we do. This was awesome. What a dream come true.” Andretti Global took the next two spots, with Will Power finishing third in the No. 26 TWG AI Honda and Marcus Ericsson fourth in the No. 28 Acura Honda in this race that was the capping event of the celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell drove the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Lamborghini Temerario GT3 to their second consecutive WeatherTech Championship Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) class win of the season, Sunday in the Michelin GT Challenge at VIRginia International Raceway. They triumphed by 1.517 seconds over Ben Barker and Dennis Olsen in the No. 64 Ford Racing Ford Mustang GT3 in the 2-hour, 40-minute race run exclusively for IMSA’s production-based GTD and GTD PRO classes. Frederic Vervisch and Christopher Mies completed a solid weekend for Ford Racing by taking third place, a distant 39.039 seconds back. Watch the Race Highlights here. Russell Ward and Philip Ellis (No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3) won the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) race at the Michelin GT Challenge at VIRginia International Raceway Sunday. Ellis brought the car home by 6.413 seconds over Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher, who finished second in the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
