The American squad, who is backed by General Motors and will be led by former Marussia Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon, will become the sport's 11th team next season. Cadillac has opted for experience with its lineup, signing 'Checo' Perez and Mercedes-Benz reserve Bottas - who boast 527 Grand Prix starts and 16 Grand Prix wins between them – on multi-year deals.
“Signing two very experienced racers like Bottas and Checo is a bold signal of intent," said Lowdon. "They’ve seen it all and they know what it takes to succeed in Formula 1. But more importantly, they understand what it means to help build a team. "Their leadership, feedback, race-hardened instincts and of course their speed will be invaluable as we bring this team to life. A big thank you to the team at Mercedes for their co-operation and understanding.”
“Joining the Cadillac Formula 1 Team is an incredibly exciting new chapter in my career," said Perez. "From our first conversations, I could sense the passion and determination behind this project. "It's an honor to be part of building a team that can develop together so that, in time, we will fight at the very front. Cadillac is a legendary name in American motorsport, and to help bring such a fantastic company to Formula 1 is a huge responsibility, one I’m confident of taking on."
Finland's Bottas enjoyed incredible success at Mercedes, playing a key role in the Silver Arrows winning the Teams' Championship every year from 2017 to 2021.
"From the moment I began speaking with the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, I felt something different – something ambitious but also grounded," said Bottas. "This isn’t just a racing project; it’s a long-term vision. "It's not every day that you get a chance to be part of something being built from the ground up and helping shape it into something that truly belongs on the F1 grid. “I’ve had the honor of working with some of the best teams in the world, and I can already see the same professionalism and hunger here."(Thank you to Formula1.com)

Christian Rasmussen got the break he needed from Mother Nature, and then he and Ed Carpenter Racing did the rest. Rasmussen used deft tire strategy by his team during a late caution period and then powered his No. 21 ECR Splenda Stevia Chevrolet past the No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing DHL Honda of pole sitter and freshly crowned series champion Alex Palou with 16 laps to go to win the Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250 on Sunday, his first career NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory. “Today was amazing,” Rasmussen said. “We were so good on new tires, even compared to other cars on new tires. Wow – that’s a good day, a good Sunday.”
2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season champion Rasmussen, in his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES season with ECR, earned his breakthrough victory in his 30th career start. He became the newest first-time winner in the series since fellow Danish driver Christian Lundgaard in July 2023 at Toronto, and this was the first victory for ECR since Rinus VeeKay triumphed in May 2021 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
“I knew this was coming for Christian,” team owner Ed Carpenter said. “He’s the best there is right now on short ovals, He has shown it all season long. That yellow played to his hand, and he did an amazing job taking advantage of his new tires and Chevy power. It feels so good; it’s been a while since we’ve won a race.”
Rasmussen beat Palou to the finish by 1.9463 seconds after taking the lead on Lap 235 of 250. Scott McLaughlin finished third in the No. 3 Team Penske Sonsio Vehicle Protection Chevrolet, tying his season best.
Alexander Rossi finished a season-best fourth in the No. 20 ECR Java House Chevrolet to put two ECR cars in the top five at the checkered flag for the first time this year. Pato O’Ward rounded out the top five in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. Watch the Race Highlights here. (Thank you to INDYCAR Media)

The season-long wait for Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports to break through for its first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship win of 2025 finally ended in Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at VIRginia International Raceway. The Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) championship-leading pairing of Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims broke their yearlong duck in their No. 3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R to end a winless run that dated to July 2024 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The pair had four podium finishes in the first five races of the season, but GTD PRO championship rivals from DragonSpeed and AO Racing have pursued the No. 3 Corvette atop the standings since. Indeed, Garcia and Sims entered VIR with only a 30-point lead ahead of Albert Costa in the No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari 296 GT3. DragonSpeed enjoyed an excellent VIR weekend, pacing both practice sessions with Costa’s teammate Giacomo Altoè securing the Motul Pole Award and leading most of the race. But with the two-hour, 40-minute race nearing its conclusion, strategic vibes entered the fray as Costa fought back to get within a second of Sims inside the final 15 minutes. Sims held off Costa’s charge to return Corvette Racing to VIR victory lane for the seventh time in the team’s history. Garcia and Jordan Taylor won Corvette’s most recent IMSA race at the track in 2023. It’s also the 25th different year that Pratt Miller Motorsports has earned at least one win.
Adding to the great day for Corvette Racing, the No. 4 team car with Tommy Milner and Nicky Catsburg finished third on the podium.
Continuing the theme of championship leaders winning races, Winward Racing followed form in the Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class with its third win of the season. Russell Ward and Philip Ellis started second in their No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3, fell down the order at the start, but methodically moved forward. The key move came in the final pit stop sequence with the No. 57 car jumping the No. 78 Forte Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 before the final yellow. Ellis was poised to lead Mario Farnbacher home in the No. 78 Lamborghini. But that didn’t hold with race officials assessing a drive-through penalty for blocking to Farnbacher inside the final two minutes. That promoted Road America GTD winners Kenton Koch and Onofrio Triarsi to second in the No. 021 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3, followed by the No. 27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo of Casper Stevenson and Tom Gamble.
