Did you think the era of giant SUVs would cool off? Think again. The industry is just getting started. The latest Mastadon to emerge? Genesis has unveiled its first full-size flagship SUV: the GV90 Neolun. The machine introduces "the world’s first independently opening and closing hidden B-pillar coach door, Neolun Arch Gate, for spacious entry and exit, embodying Genesis’ philosophy of hospitality," according to Genesis PR minions.
"GV90 is not simply a new vehicle, but a new vision for luxury mobility that brings together inspiring design, AI-powered software and connectivity, and industry-leading safety," said Euisun Chung, Executive Chair of Hyundai Motor Group. "Technology alone does not create luxury, and design alone does not define luxury. The value of innovation lies in transforming the customer experience in intelligent and intuitive ways to improve people's lives." (Well, alrighty then! -WG)
Built on the eMP platform exclusive for the Genesis flagship, "the GV90 sets a new direction for luxury electric flagship vehicles. It combines the highest level of safety, elegant driving dynamics and ride comfort, and a plethora of innovative technologies that offer an unprecedented in-vehicle experience, dressed in an exterior that commands attention," the Genesis PR minions continued. (Extra credit for working the word "plethora" into the press release! - WG)

Genesis has equipped the GV90 with a 123.5 kilowatt-hour high-voltage battery, the largest capacity among Hyundai Motor Group's electric vehicles. The GV90's high-voltage battery features cells with a high-density, high-output design, which enhances energy density while simultaneously improving power and fast-charging performance. A Wireless Battery Management System (WBMS) maximizes the battery system's packaging efficiency, providing battery capacity fit for a vehicle of this scale. On a single charge, the GV90 (7-seater) achieves an estimated range of approximately 310 miles (based on internal R&D tests). When using a 350-kilowatt fast charger, the battery charges from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes. The GV90 comes with a combined maximum output of 657HP and 590 lb-ft torque from the front and rear motors.
The GV90 will be available in two variants: the GV90 Neolun, featuring the Neolun Arch Gate, and the standard GV90 with conventional swing doors. It will also be equipped with an array of advanced technologies, including the world’s first roof airbag, a 123.5 kilowatt-hour large-capacity high-voltage battery, dual Electronic Limited Slip Differential (E-LSD), multi-chamber air suspension, a New Power Control System, a pop-up center OLED Cinematic Display, Pleos Connect, Remote Smart Parking Assist 3, Bang & Olufsen’s Premier 3D sound system with 25 speakers and Dolby Atmos®, Ambient Glow mood lighting, Smart Vision Roof and a heated windshield. How much? They're not saying, but figure well over $100,000. And when? They're not saying.

The AE Song of the Week:
Come my lady
Come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Come my lady
Come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Such a sexy, sexy pretty little thing
Fierce nipple pierce, you got me sprung with your tongue ring
And I ain't gonna lie 'cause your loving gets me high
So to keep you by my side, there's nothing that I won't try
Butterflies in her eyes and the looks to kill
Time is passing, I'm asking could this be real?
'Cause I can't sleep, I can't hold still
The only thing I really know is she got sex appeal
I can feel, too much is never enough
You're always there to lift me up
When these times get rough, I was lost, now I'm found
Ever since you've been around
You're the women that I want
So yo, I'm putting it down
Come my lady, come-come my lady
Come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Come my lady
Come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Such a sexy, sexy pretty little thing
Fierce nipple pierce, you got me sprung with your tongue ring
And I ain't gonna lie 'cause your loving gets me high
So to keep you by my side, there's nothing that I won't try
Butterflies in her eyes and the looks to kill
Time is passing, I'm asking could this be real?
'Cause I can't sleep, I can't hold still
The only thing I really know is she got sex appeal
I can feel, too much is never enough
You're always there to lift me up
When these times get rough, I was lost, now I'm found
Ever since you've been around
You're the women that I want
So yo, I'm putting it down
Come my lady, come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Come my lady, you're my pretty baby
I'll make your legs shake
You make me go crazy
Come my lady, come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Come my lady, you're my pretty baby
I'll make your legs shake
You make me go crazy
I don't deserve you, unless it's some kind of hidden message
To show me life is precious
Then I guess it's true
But to tell truth, I really never knew
'Til I met you, see, I was lost and confused
Twisted and used up
Knew a better life existed but thought that I missed it
My lifestyle's wild, I was living like a wild child
Trapped on a short leash, paroled in police files
So yo, what's happening now?
I see the sun breaking down into dark clouds
And a vision of you standing out in a crowd, so
Come my lady, you're my pretty baby
I'll make your legs shake
You make me go crazy
Come my lady, come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Come my lady, you're my pretty baby
I'll make your legs shake
You make me go crazy
I don't deserve you, unless it's some kind of hidden message
To show me life is precious
Then I guess it's true
But to tell truth, I really never knew
'Til I met you, see, I was lost and confused
Twisted and used up
Knew a better life existed but thought that I missed it
My lifestyle's wild, I was living like a wild child
Trapped on a short leash, paroled in police files
So yo, what's happening now?
I see the sun breaking down into dark clouds
And a vision of you standing out in a crowd, so
Come my lady, come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Come my lady, you're my pretty baby
I'll make your legs shake
You make me go crazy
Come my lady, come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Come my lady, you're my pretty baby
I'll make your legs shake
You make me go crazy
Hey sugar mama, come and dance with me
The smartest thing you ever did was take a chance with me
Whatever tickles your fancy
Girl, it's me and you like Sid and Nancy
So sexy, almost evil, talkin' 'bout butterflies in my head
I used to think that happy endings were only in the books I read but
You made me feel alive when I was almost dead
You filled that empty space with the love I used to chase
And as far as I can see, it don't get better than this
So butterfly, here is a song and it's sealed with a kiss
And a thank you miss
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Come my lady, you're my pretty baby
I'll make your legs shake
You make me go crazy
Come my lady, come-come my lady
You're my butterfly, sugar baby
Come my lady, you're my pretty baby
I'll make your legs shake

Hey sugar mama, come and dance with me

*Crazy Town lead singer Shifty Shellshock (Seth Binzer) wrote this song about the girl he was seeing at the time. Most of the group's songs were full of macho swagger, which made her wary of Shellshock, so he set out to write something more romantic. The two were living together at the time, and she collected butterflies. As Shellshock tells it, he was lying on the bed, thinking about what to call his song, when he spotted a butterfly on the ceiling. That gave him the title, and he later came up with the line, "You're my butterfly, sugar baby." He brought the idea to the band, and they loved the idea; they recorded the demo that very evening. Unfortunately, things didn't work out for Shellshock and his butterfly girl - they were together for three years before a tough breakup.
The Gift Of Game album, Crazy Town's debut, had been out for a year and a half before "Butterfly" became a hit. It was the third single from the band, which specialized in the kind of rap-rock that was big in 1999 and into the early '00s. Their first two singles were the harder songs "Toxic" and "Darkside," which flopped. Crazy Town toured with Buckcherry, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Methods Of Mayhem before the song took off. This samples "Pretty Little Ditty" from The Red Hot Chili Peppers album Mother's Milk. After writing the lyrics, Shellshock asked his producer to give it a mellow feel similar to "Under The Bridge" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Crazy Town had two lead singers: Shifty Shellshock and Epic Mazur, the band's founders and primary songwriters. They would typically trade off vocals, which they do on "Butterfly." The pair are the credited songwriters on the track along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers members who wrote "Pretty Little Ditty," which it samples.
"Butterfly" was a huge crossover hit, earning airplay on rock, pop, and alternative radio stations. Along with :"How You Remind Me" by Nickelback, it was one of just two rock songs to hit #1 on the Hot 100 in 2001. Alas, it was the band's only hit. The song went to #1 in March 2001 and stayed for two weeks. It got a boost from MTV, which featured it on their spring break coverage from Cancun that year. The video was directed by a team that worked on the movies The Matrix and What Dreams May Come. It is based on the images from What Dreams May Come. (Knowledge courtesy of Songfacts.com)
