The AE Quote of the Century: Everybody loves The High-Octane Truth. Until they don't. -WG

SPECIAL EDITOR'S NOTE: We are relaunching Peter's book with a new title, The Knowing One. It seems there was some confusion that this was a religious book, which could not be further from the truth! This is Peter's first work of fiction, and as we said previously, it doesn't resemble anything you've read from him before. In fact, it is quite a dramatic departure. It is mystical. It is sexy. It is funny. It's moving. And it is a flat-out wild ride unlike anything you've experienced. Having said that, it is definitely not for everyone, but then, it is from PMD, so that probably shouldn't come as a surprise! Check it out on Amazon Kindle here. -WG

The new Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing F1® Collector Series made its debut over the weekend at the Miami F1 Grand Prix. Cadillac will build just 26 examples of the CT5-V Blackwing F1® Collector Series, marking the historic year that the first Formula 1 team from an American manufacturer joined the grid. “The CT5-V Blackwing embodies the very best of Cadillac track-capable performance. With the F1® Collector Series, we’re channeling the energy and innovation of Formula 1® into a road-ready sedan that feels every bit as special as our entry into the sport,” said Mark Reuss, President, General Motors. “Each of the 26 vehicles is curated to be a centerpiece in any collection and a true celebration of Cadillac’s new era in Formula 1®.” Using the formidable CTS-V Blackwing as a starting point, Cadillac designers and engineers have created something inspired by the performance and aesthetics of the MAC-26 racecar. The CT5-V Blackwing F1® Collector Series is offered in a livery of Midnight Stone Frost with silver, gray, and black accents, plus Formula 1® and FIA® logos throughout. What else do you get? In collaboration with GM Motorsports, Cadillac engineers upgraded the CT5-V Blackwing’s supercharger to get 685HP from its 6.2L V-8. That engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and each CT5-V Blackwing F1® Collector Series comes equipped with the Precision Package, which includes carbon-ceramic brakes and chassis upgrades for even more track capability.

This is the acclaimed Nichols N1A Can-Am-inspired supercar. Nichols Cars is the British automotive marque dedicated to producing lightweight, driver-centric sports cars defined by analog authenticity. Founded by automotive industry veteran John Minett and legendary race car designer Steve Nichols, Nichols Cars combines deep motorsport heritage with a singular focus on craftsmanship and driving purity. The company’s ethos is rooted in delivering an unfiltered driving experience, eschewing unnecessary digital systems in favor of mechanical honesty, responsiveness, and emotional connection.

When establishing Nichols Cars, we were driven by a shared belief that something vital had been lost in modern performance cars – the sense of connection, simplicity, and trust between driver and machine. The N1A is our answer to that: a car that strips away distraction and puts the focus back on feel, balance, and precision. Every decision we’ve made has been guided by that principle..." - Steve Nichols, Technical Director of Nichols Cars.

That philosophy is brought vividly to life in the Nichols N1A – a beautiful, superfast, modern-day, state-of-the-art reimagining of the classic 1960s McLaren M1A Can-Am car, as raced in period by the company’s founder Bruce McLaren, two-time Formula 1 world champion Graham Hill, and American racing driver, constructor, team owner and legend, Dan Gurney. Designed with an uncompromising focus on lightweight engineering, impeccable handling, and prodigious roadholding, the N1A features an aluminum chassis and meticulously sculpted bodywork. Its performance credentials underline its intent while remaining true to its analogue roots:
  1. Power: 700BHP
  2. 0–60mph: Less than 3.0 seconds
  3. Top speed: Circa 240mph
  4. Weight: 900kg
The result is a car that delivers exceptional agility, total immediacy, and fantastic driver feedback, capturing the essence of a truly engaging analogue sports car.

It is expected to launch later this summer. Editor-in-Chief's Note: I love this! That is all. -PMD

The AE Song of the Week:

(Mum-mum-mum-mah)
(Mum-mum-mum-mah)
(Mum-mum-mum-mah)
(Mum-mum-mum-mah)
(Mum-mum-mum-mah)

I wanna hold 'em like they do in Texas, please
Fold 'em, let 'em hit me, raise it, baby, stay with me (I love it)
LoveGame intuition, play the cards with spades to start
And after he's been hooked, I'll play the one that's on his heart

Oh, whoa-oh, oh, oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I got
Oh, whoa-oh, oh, oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I got

Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)
Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face

(She's got me like nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face (mum-mum-mum-mah)
P-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face (mum-mum-mum-mah)

I wanna roll with him, a hard pair we will be (hey)
A little gamblin' is fun when you're with me (I love it, woo)
Russian roulette is not the same without a gun
And baby, when it's love, if it's not rough, it isn't fun (fun)

Oh, whoa-oh, oh, oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I got
Oh, whoa-oh, oh, oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I got

Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)
Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face (mum-mum-mum-mah)
P-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face (mum-mum-mum-mah)
(Mum-mum-mum-mah)
(Mum-mum-mum-mah)

I won't tell you that I love you, kiss or hug you
'Cause I'm bluffin' with my muffin
I'm not lyin', I'm just stunnin' with my love-glue-gunnin'
Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bank before I pay you out
I promise this, promise this
Check this hand 'cause I'm marvelous

Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)
Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)
Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)

Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)
Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)
Can't read my, can't read my
No, he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
P-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face (she's got me like nobody)
P-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face (mum-mum-mum-mah)
P-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face (mum-mum-mum-mah)
P-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face (mum-mum-mum-mah)
P-p-p-poker face, f-f-fuck her face (mum-mum-mum-mah)

"Poker Face" by Lady Gaga, from the album "The Fame" (2008).* Written by Nadir Khayat and Stefani Germanotta. Publisher: Downtown Music Publishing, Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC. Lyrics licensed and provided by LyricFind. Watch the Official Music Video here.

*Lady Gaga told Fashionista101 that this tune is about the singer playing with guys as if she were a poker player. She explained: "The song speaks in reference to the poker game, 'Texas Hold Em.' So, I said, 'I wanna hold him like they do in Texas, please.' So, its basically saying like, I wanna hold that guy - I wanna be close to him."

She later gave a different explanation. NBC's Access Hollywood reported that during a birthday concert at Palm Springs Convention Center, where the audience was mainly made up of gay men, Lady Gaga opened up about the meaning behind this song. To an enthusiastic crowd reaction, she suggested that it is about her personal experience with bisexuality, adding that the song is about being with a man but fantasizing about a woman; hence, the man must read her "Poker Face" to understand what is going through her mind. The "Mum-mum-mum-ma" hook is sampled from Boney M's 1977 hit "Ma Baker."

This song climbed into the Top 10 of the Hot 100, while Lady Gaga's debut single, "Just Dance" was positioned at #5. She thus became the first solo female lead artist to have her first two chart entries appear in the top 10 simultaneously, since Ciara achieved the same feat with "Goodies" and "1, 2 Step" in December 2004. This reached #1 in many countries, including the singles charts in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Lady Gaga wrote this with her producer, RedOne. The Moroccan helmsman told Billboard magazine that he and Gaga clicked as soon as they started working together: "It happens so quick, we know each other, we're good musically," he said. "We're not overthinking. We just do what we feel right. Before you know it, the song is pretty much done. I'm not saying that is the way it should be, but in this case that's what happened - we wrote 'Just Dance' in one hour. Done. 'Poker Face'? One hour. It just happened. Magic."

Lady Gaga performed this at halftime of the 2017 Super Bowl, pausing to soak up applause after the line, "I wanna hold 'em like they do in Texas plays." The game was held in Houston, Texas. (Knowledge courtesy of Songfacts.com)
