The most dominant rider in MotoGP was dominant again on Sunday, as Marc Marquez (No. 93 REPSOL Honda Team) rode to a flag-to-flag victory in the 2019 MotoGP Argentina Grand Prix. Marquez finished 9.8 seconds ahead of Valentino Rossi (No. 46 MONSTER ENERGY Yamaha MotoGP) at the Autodromo de Termas de Rio Hondo. Marquez was in a class of his own, but Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso (No. 4 MISSION WINNOW Ducati) had a race-long duel for second. Rossi emerged victorious in that fight thanks to a last-lap move. But Marquez admitted that he was hoping Rossi would beat Ducati's Dovizioso, who has been main rival for the past two years. "When I passed the finish line I knew that Dovizioso and Rossi were fighting for second place," said Marquez, who topped every session except FP2 throughout the weekend. "I preferred Valentino to be second overall." He added: "I am happy because we won and are leading the championship but I am happier the way we managed the weekend. It was one of the most solid weekends of my career in MotoGP, I felt really strong during all the sessions. I understand the set-up really well, the tires, and then I understood the way to manage the race, and that the first laps were where I can make the biggest difference."

Leclerc came home in third. The top three all used different two-stop tire strategies, in a thrilling race that was characterized by plenty of tactical variation, with high levels of tire degradation. Before his issue, Leclerc’s advantage had been such that he was able to complete his second pit stop without losing the lead. He still took the point for fastest lap. Max Verstappen (No. 33 Aston Martin Red Bull Racing) was fourth, and Sebastian Vettel (No. 5 Scuderia Ferrari, above) finished fifth after three visits to the pits, the final one following yet another on-track incident for the former champion.

Denny Hanlin (No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing FEDEX Toyota Camry) won the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Hamlin led three times for 45 laps en route to his third win at Texas, his second win of the season and the fourth Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory for Joe Gibbs Racing in the first seven races of 2019. “I missed pit road under green, that cost us three or four seconds, as well,” Hamlin said. “I don’t know. We tried every way we could to give it away, and we found a way to do it with this FedEx Camry.” With a splash-and-go fuel stop on Lap 319, Hamlin cycled back to the lead four laps later and extended his advantage over Clint Bowyer (No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing RUSH TRUCK CENTERS Ford Mustang) by 2.743-seconds at the finish. Daniel Suarez (No. 41 RUCKUS Ford Mustang) finished third.

Lawrence Loshak (No. 3 Burtin Racing Pennzoil/Elavon/GoShare Chevrolet Camaro) won the TA class in the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli Round 2 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Sunday. Loshak delivered a nearly a five second victory over his Burtin Racing teammate Tomy Drissi (No. 8 XMEN: Dark Phoenix Chevrolet Camaro). Drissi, who led the race for 13 laps, recovered from a late off-track excursion to take second. Three-time Road Atlanta winner Amy Ruman displayed her experience on the 2.54-mile, 12-turn road course and crafted an advantage as she waited to make her move for a podium finish. She finished third in the No. 23 Ruman Racing McNichols Company Chevrolet Corvette.

After a three-lap shootout to the checkered flag, defending TA2 powered by AEM champion Rafa Matos wheeled the No. 88 3Dimensional Services Group Chevrolet Camaro to his second consecutive victory at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli TA2 class on Sunday. The win marks the second for the Brazilian driver this season as the 2018 champion aims for a second title. Marc Miller (No. 40 Prefix Stevens-Miller Racing Dodge Challenger) finished second and Dillon Machavern (No. 77 Liqui-Moly Prefix Ford Mustang) completed the podium in third.

The 2019 Corvette Grand Sport will serve as the Official Pace Car for the 2019 Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 26 for the 103rd running of the legendary race. It marks the 16th time a Corvette has served as the Pace Car, starting in 1978, and the 30th time a Chevrolet has led the field dating back to 1948, when a 1948 Fleetmaster Six convertible paced the race. No other brand or vehicle has served as the 500 Pace Car more than Chevrolet and the Corvette, respectively. Indianapolis 500 fans also will see 33 2019 Corvette Stingrays on the roads of Central Indiana this spring and in the IPL 500 Festival Parade on May 25 in downtown Indianapolis. The popular cars are provided to central Indiana business leaders and dignitaries and serve an important promotional role for the race, Chevrolet and Corvette. This is the first time since 2007 that matching Corvettes are serving as the 500 Pace Car and festival cars.
