During the unveiling of the 2015 Acura TLX Prototype at the Detroit Auto Show, Acura Motorsports also unveiled the Acura TLX GT race car, which it announced would be campaigned by RealTime Racing in the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge GT Championship. That the race car was more compelling than the street car goes without question. Acura will return to the World Challenge GT category for the first time since 2002, when RealTime campaigned an Acura NSX. Founded by Peter Cunningham in 1987, RealTime Racing is located in Saukville, Wis., just north of Milwaukee. The team has won championships on dirt, ice and asphalt, and is the most successful team in World Challenge history. To learn more, visit www.realtimerl.com.

Goodwood has announced that Indianapolis 500 winners Al Unser and Kenny Brack have confirmed their attendance at the 21st running of the Festival of Speed on27-29 June 2014. Unser has four victories at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, making him one of only three drivers to have won the world's biggest race on four occasions. Brack, who was Sweden’s most successful racing driver of his generation, displayed his championship credentials by winning the Indy Racing League title in 1998 and taking victory at the Indy 500 the following season; both of his successes coming with the team run by fellow oval racing legend A.J. Foyt.

Shelby American will offer 50 limited-edition continuation (CSX7000) Shelby 289 FIA Cobras this year. Each will be painted “Viking Blue” with FIA stripes and roundels, feature a black FIA interior, special billet anniversary badges, original style wheels and a variety of additional options. The 50th Anniversary FIA Shelby Cobra was introduced at the annual Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz, on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. These are component vehicles that can be fitted with a proper drive train by a customer or automotive professional. Each car is built to order and delivered as a rolling chassis, less drive train, with a Shelby American issued MSO. Editor-in-Chief's Note: It will be interesting to see how long the market for "officially sanctioned" Shelby Cobras will last. Even though I have a deep appreciation for the accomplishments of Shelby and his phenomenally talented team and that glorious era of unbridled American ingenuity, each newly created tribute to the man and his machines seems to get us closer to the time when no one will be interested in recreations, no matter how well executed. - PMD
