(Pirelli World Challenge)
The Pro-Am pairing of teenager Parker Chase and veteran Ryan Dalziel (No. 19 TruSpeed Audi R8 LMS) won the 60-minute GT SprintX Round 8 at the 58th annual Rose Cup Races featuring the Pirelli World Challenge at Portland International Raceway on Sunday. Chase, the 17-year-old from New Braunfels, Tex., drove an impressive final stint against Porsche factory drivers Wolf Henzler and Michael Christensen as well as other top GT racers to score his first GT Overall win on the 1.97-mile, 12-turn road course north of Portland. Dalziel, a multi-time GT race winner, started the race in the No. 19 Audi and was running third when he passed off the car to Chase. It was a spectacular weekend for the TruSpeed Autosport squad with an GT Overall victory on Sunday and a second overall and Pro/Am GT win on Saturday with Chase and Dalziel. Maxime Soulet and Rodrigo Baptista (No. 3 K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3) finished second in the 44-lap GT SprintX feature on Sunday, 2.056 seconds behind the winners. Scott Hargrove and Henzler (No. 96 Pfaff Motorsports/Castrol Porsche 911 GT3 R) finished third. The Hargrove/Henzler duo took the checkered flag first on Sunday but was penalized three seconds for an on-track infraction. Saturday’s GT SprintX winners, Toni Vilander and Miguel Molina (No. 61 RFerri Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3), finished seventh overall Sunday after leading early in the event. The Ferrari duo suffered a drive-through penalty after an equipment malfunction during their pit stop.
(FIA Formula E)
Jean-Eric Vergne (No. 25 TECHHEETAH) picked up his fourth win of the season at the final race of the 2017/18 ABB FIA Formula E Championship in New York. The newly-crowned Formula E champion fended off pressure from the outgoing title-winner Lucas di Grassi (No. 1 Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler) on a Sunday fight to the finish. Daniel Abt (No. 66 Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler) finished third. The double podium finish and di Grassi’s seventh in as many races sealed the teams’ title for Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler. "I want to congratulate Audi for winning the teams' championship," said Vergne. "Also, I want to congratulate my team for the job they have done this year because it is really amazing."
