The AE Quote of the Century: Everybody loves The High-Octane Truth. Until they don't. -WG

SPECIAL EDITOR'S NOTE: We're thrilled to announce the debut of Peter's first work of fiction, "St. Michael of Birmingham." Make no mistake, it doesn't resemble anything you've read from him before. In fact, it is quite a dramatic departure. It is mystical. It is sexy. It is funny. It's moving. And it is a flat-out wild ride unlike anything you've experienced. Having said that, it is definitely not for everyone, but then, it is from PMD, so that probably shouldn't come as a surprise! Check it out on Amazon Kindle here. -WG

The new BMW M2 CS is almost here. Based on the second generation of the BMW M2, BMW offered a first glimpse of the exterior design of the BMW M2 CS on May 23rd at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on the shores of Lake Como. The high-revving inline 6-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology develops 523HP in the M2 CS – 50HP more than in the standard BMW M2. The M2 CS sends its power to the rear wheels via a standard 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. Other details? CS-specific chassis enhancements sharpen dynamic responses; 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 188 mph; and a base MSRP of $98,600 plus $1,175 destination and handling. Production at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico starts in August 2025, with deliveries expected to commence here in late Q3. Editor-in-Chief's Note: If you want the last of the "real" BMWs, this might be just the ticket. BMW is presenting an exclusive new concept car at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025, the renowned celebration of historic vehicles on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. The exclusive new concept car will subsequently be made available for purchase in a small series. The BMW Concept Speedtop "reimagines the sporty Touring, blending the elegance of a shooting brake with unique proportions," according to BMW PR minions. “A true BMW exudes dynamism and elegance even when it’s standing still,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design. “And that’s also the case with our new concept car. The BMW Concept Speedtop is characterized first of all by its profile. It is very unique in the automotive industry. In this way, we have created an exclamation mark for our entire lineup of vehicles, especially for the Touring models.” More? The high-styled interior invites weekend getaways for two. "High-quality materials, the focus on every detail, and the stylistic connection between exterior and interior are testaments to its true craftsmanship," according to the manufacturer. The BMW Concept Speedtop will be offered to collectors and connoisseurs in a strictly limited small series. “Last year, the presentation of the BMW Concept Skytop at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como generated great enthusiasm among connoisseurs and automotive enthusiasts,” says Bernd Körber, Senior Vice President BMW Brand and Product Management. “This led to a strictly limited production run of 50 units. Thanks to this positive response, this year we have decided to also offer the BMW Concept Speedtop in a limited production series of 70 units. This extraordinary vehicle is now available for order. We are pleased to be able to offer collectors and enthusiasts another exclusive model.” How much? Don't ask.

The AE Song of the Week

I couldn't stop movin' when it first took hold
It was a warm spring night at the old town hall
There was a band called The Jokers, they were layin' it down
Doncha know I'm never gonna lose that funky sound

Hey!
Rock 'n' Roll, Hoochie Koo
Lawdy mama light my fuse
Rock 'n' Roll, Hoochie Koo

Truck on out and spread the news
All right
I hope ya'll know what I'm talkin' about
The way she wiggled that thing, it really knocks me out

Gettin' high all the time, but if you're not there too
Come on a little closer, gonna do it to you
Yeah
Rock 'n' Roll, Hoochie Koo

Lawdy mama light my fuse
Rock 'n' Roll, Hoochie Koo
Truck on out and spread the news
Yeah!

'Squitas start buzzin' 'bout that time of year
She's goin' 'round back, said she'd meet me there
We was ballin' in the grass growin' behind the barn
Now my ears started ringin' like a fire alarm

Rock 'n' Roll, Hoochie Koo
Lawdy mama light my fuse
Rock 'n' Roll, Hoochie Koo
Truck on out and spread the news

Done got tired of payin' dues
Said goodbye to all my blues
Lawdy mama, light my fuse
'N' Roll, Hoochie Koo
Truck on out and spread the news

"Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo" by Rick Derringer, from the album "All American Boy" (1973)*. Lyrics licensed and provided by LyricFind. Watch Rick Derringer perform the song with Edgar Winter on The Midnight Special here.

*Hoochie Koo" is short for "Hoochie Koochie," which is sexual slang popularized by Muddy Waters in his song "Hoochie Coochie Man." In this song, Derringer finds a lady who really lights his fuse; he looks forward to a little Hoochie Koo, obviously. This was first released on the Johnny Winter And album in 1970, with Derringer and the McCoys (responsible for the #1 hit, "Hang On Sloopy") backing up Winter. Derringer, who wrote the song, decided to re-record it for his first solo single. It was his biggest hit as a solo artist. (Knowledge courtesy of Songfacts.com) Editor-in-Chief's Note: I attended an all-day outdoor concert at the Michigan State Fairgrounds in Detroit back in the summer of 1970. There was an impressive lineup of bands at the time, but the last two acts were Edgar Winter's White Trash, followed by the closing act, Johnny Winter And. I spent all day working my way forward to get close to the stage, and I finally reached the stage right before Edgar Winter came out. With my arms resting on the stage, I saw two of the greatest performances I had ever seen, and Rick Derringer was the lead guitarist for both bands. He was simply sensational that evening, and so were Edgar and Johnny Winter. The memories never get old. Rick passed away last week at the age of 77. -PMD
