Porsche was handed its eighteenth overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans when the leading No. 5 Toyota Gazoo TS050 Hybrid prototype (below) driven by Kazuki Nakajima (with Sebastien Buemi and Anthony Davidson) lost power with five minutes left in the race while leading comfortably. It was one of the most unexpected and crushing disappointments in racing history. Neel Jani, Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas (No.2 Porsche Team Joest Porsche 919 Hybrid) inherited the lead and the race win.
